Had a blast the other day down on the old Fernleigh Track with James and Anne. Their wedding is coming up oh-so-soon now, and it’s going to be great fun.

In keeping with the theme of the wedding and Anne’s great taste… we went a little vintage with these photos… definitely tell me what you think.

Oh and the Polaroid belongs to Anne… but I’m going to be running out to get one now.

Hannah and Anthony’s Wedding — Wisemans Ferry

I’d always heard the name of Wisemans Ferry around and it sounded like a cute place away from the craziness. Then we ended up there there a few years ago, after chasing last-minute accommodations deals when looking for a good place to escape to for a weekend. At the time I thought it would be an amazing place for a wedding (you’ll see why from the photos) but didn’t think I’d get the chance.

So when Anthony and Hannah (whose sister Emma’s wedding I photographed last year) chose it as the spot for their wedding I was pretty keen, and when they chose me to photograph it… that was even better.

So I hope you enjoy these photos of an amazing couple

This is a bit overdue… but I’m still super proud of Josh

At last month’s AIPP (Australian Institute of Professional Photography Awards) NSW state photography awards Josh won 3 silvers and one GOLD! A huge achievement (and surprise!). So few photographers are honoured with a gold award.

Yes, I know you’d probably like to see them, but we can’t show you the images just yet as they are going to the national awards (APPA) next month.

The competition is much tougher at APPA, but hopefully Josh can bring something home.

Renee and Joel’s Hunter Valley Wedding

On Saturday it was out to the Hunter Valley for Renee and Joel’s wedding at Ironbark Hill. It was my first time there, and I’m definitely keen to get back – with both the chapel and reception in the one place it makes for a laid-back day away from the rest of the world – perfect for these two. I don’t think I’ve seen bigger smiles before!

Kate and Peter – Married!

With much excitement did I pack my bag and leave to go to my friend’s wedding in Scone. Unlike most of our other friends, I knew I’d get plenty of time to hang out with the bride… why? Well you may have guessed – I was also the photographer! I’ve known Kate for over 10 years, she is patient and kind and loved by all who know her. I was so excited to hear of her engagement to Peter and even more excited to receive an email asking about photography.

So, after a catch up in our studio to talk all things photography, I had MY first wedding clients and we headed out for a pre wedding photo session! Now, this isn’t the normal pace for our clients – but Kate & Peter now live on the other side of the country and they were leaving Newcastle that evening!

This is my first wedding that I have photographed. I have assisted & photographed with Josh for many years – but this was the first wedding that was all mine. I did let Josh tag along as an assistant (I needed someone to carry my bag!). But all the images you see were taken by me.

I loved every minute of the day.

Congratulations Kate & Peter and thank you for letting me be part of your wedding day.

While I was working on a big print to put on display in the studio (see the photo underneath), I remembered that I had been meaning to post just one other little shot from this wedding.

See, while this photo isn’t a brilliant work of art – just a quick snap and there’s a bit of silliness going on up the back, it means a lot to me.

Along with Katie and Ben (the bride and groom), in this photo, we have… Josh and Sarah, James and Roz, Adam and Kate, Jonno and Lyndal, Sam and Ellen, Andrew and Jess, Geoff and Fiona, Andrew and Miriam, Dave and Allison.

What do they have in common?

I photographed all their weddings starting in January 2007… which if you’re counting is exactly five years ago. Seeing them all at this one wedding reminded me of the absolute best part of this job… it’s a real privilege to be chosen to document such an important day of celebration in people’s lives.
